The Korean handset maker Samsung now has its Galaxy S smartphone on all four of the Tier 1 U.S. carriers - like Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel, and T-Mobile USA - and brings the device also to regional operator U.S. Cellular. Tripling the global smartphone sales of Samsung is expected.

Research In Motion is reportedly at work on a series of new devices and software solutions developed to combat Apple's growing lead in the mobile services segment. The Wall Street Journal reports RIM is presently trialing a new smartphone based on the forthcoming BlackBerry OS 6.0, announced in April and scheduled to make its public debut in Q3 - sources familiar with the device say it boasts a user experience evoking Apple's iPhone, enabling consumers to swipe through screens and expand images with their fingers.

Montag, 7. Juni 2010Nokia promises high-end experience with MeeGo
Alberto Torres, Nokia's executive vice president of MeeGo computers, said "MeeGo has the potential of creating something that's deeper than you find on a typical smartphone." In an interview with My Nokia on the sidelines of the Open Mobile Summit, Torres said Nokia plans to make MeeGo the basis for all of its flagship products.

Nokia and T-Mobile USA annouced the upcoming availability of the Nokia E73 Mode, exclusively for T-Mobile customers, designed to help balance the need to stay connected with one's work and personal life at home or on the go. This device is a Wi-Fi calling enabled QWERTY smartphone operating on T-Mobile's fast 3G network, includes Nokia's Switch Mode feature, which allows consumers to switch between fully customizable home screens that help promote a work-life balance. The Nokia E73 Mode is expected to be available beginning June 16.

Yahoo announced it will extend its global partnership with Samsung, launching a host of mobile services across devices running the handset maker's own bada operating system as well as Google's Android. Per terms of the agreement, which officially kicks off next month, Samsung will preload branded Yahoo solutions including Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Messenger, Yahoo Front Page, Yahoo Search, Flickr and Yahoo News.
